  • The full portfolio also includes multiple proven technologies that together support a full site-to-chip cooling strategy for greater uptime, efficiency and reliability.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – May 29, 2025 – Ecolab Inc., a global sustainability leader offering water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions and services that protect people and the resources vital to life, today announced the launch of a new technology within an advanced portfolio of solutions to drive high-performance data center cooling. The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has created exponential growth for data centers, with U.S. data center energy demand expected to grow from 25 GW in 2024 to more than 80 GW by 2030. By enabling reliable uptime, reducing water consumption and optimizing energy efficiency, this portfolio helps operators address the water, energy and performance demands of AI-driven computing. As part of the launch, Ecolab will highlight the full portfolio in Booth 102 at Datacloud Global Congress 2025, taking place in Cannes, France, from June 3 to 5.

“The accelerated growth of AI, which is driving rapidly increasing rack densities, creates complexity for data center operators as they address competing resource and business demands,” said Mukul Girotra, vice president and general manager, Global High Tech. “By integrating monitoring, performance insights and global expertise, we can help data centers prepare with scalable solutions that enable them to navigate the pressure of reliably doing more with less.”

The new innovation within Ecolab’s advanced cooling management portfolio is 3D TRASAR™ Technology for Direct-to-Chip Liquid Cooling, developed for next-generation server environments. The system delivers real-time monitoring of coolant health, tracking coolant concentration, temperature, pH, flow rates and other fluid health indicators to help protect direct-to-chip servers and critical cooling infrastructure.

This technology builds on a decades-long record of innovation by Ecolab, proven in more than 40 industries including nuclear power, microelectronics and more. It was developed with critical feedback from both data center operators and IT equipment manufacturers to meet the unique and dynamic needs of the data center white space.

The new solution is supported by Ecolab’s Water Quality IQ™ performance insights, which provide data and recommended actions at a glance for operators. 3D TRASAR Technology for Direct-to-Chip Liquid Cooling also includes expert field service and lab analysis provided by multiple research facilities around the world, with results available in as little as five days. A hypercare support model helps data center operators ensure direct-to-chip systems are commissioned correctly and running smoothly. Designed to minimize unplanned downtime, extend asset life and enhance reliability, the complete solution helps maintain optimal performance for high-value computing assets.

“Data center operators need cooling systems that can keep pace with rapidly advancing heat loads,” said Girotra. “This portfolio, anchored by 3D TRASAR Technology for Direct-to-Chip Liquid Cooling, expands our capabilities with advanced cooling technology for the data center white space.”

Ecolab’s full suite of advanced cooling management solutions also consists of previously established programs:

  • 3D TRASAR for Cooling Water helps enhance cooling tower and chiller efficiency while minimizing water use. The solution provides deep operational insights and control that help protect critical assets and reduce operating costs.
  • 3D TRASAR for Adiabatic Cooling optimizes direct evaporative cooling system performance through continuous water quality monitoring. It supports longer asset life and consistent operation with maintenance-free conductivity sensing.
  • Water Flow Intelligence delivers real-time visibility into water usage at the enterprise, site and asset levels. It helps operators identify and act on prescriptive water savings opportunities, making it an ideal tool for sustainability-focused data centers.

Together, these programs form a unified approach that covers the entire data center cooling landscape. From cooling towers and adiabatic systems to direct-to-chip infrastructure, and guided by facility-wide water insights, the portfolio equips operators to optimize performance at every stage. This integrated strategy supports better power usage effectiveness (PUE) and water usage effectiveness (WUE), enabling reliable performance and optimizing cooling applications to help return energy to compute.
